Blue Valentine - Is This You?

2010 was an unusual year for me in that I saw only about a third (or less) of the number of new films I've seen in pretty much every year of the decade leading up to it. That said, of the few dozen I did manage to see (and we all know the film year isn't over until around the time of the Academy Awards - the Super Bowl of movies - so there are more to be seen), Derek Cianfrance's Blue Valentine is my favorite. I might even venture an objective opinion (is that an oxymoron?) and say that it is absolutely the best film of the year.

General Information About Auditions

Before landing a role whether in acting, modeling or even singing gigs, chances are you will have to attend an audition to get the role. An audition is like a job interview. You have to show your talents and allow the directors to pick the best for the part. Keeping some important tips in mind throughout the auditions can help your chances, and allow you to feel comfortable while trying out.

The Dancing And Singing Star

During the 1970's John Travolta reigned as one of the legendary stars who had a string of hit films to his credit. But by the mid-1980's his initial fame became a little dull as he had some flop movies. However, in 1994, he reemerged and rose from the ashes like a phoenix and reclaimed his position as a versatile actor.

The great actor's first major hit film was Saturday Night Fever which was released in 1977. It brought him fame and glory and earned for him the name of a dancing star. This movie was set against a backdrop of a disco nightlife in New York City. This movie earned for him an Academy Award nomination for best actor.

"Destino", Disney, and Dali

Salvador Dali's early work attracted the attention of creative people in many fields. He created a lobster-print dress for Elsa Schiaparelli and a "costume for the year 2045" for Christian Dior. His interest in film led him to collaborate on a number of films including Spellbound with Alfred Hitchcock.

In 1945-46 Salvador Dali and Walt Disney began collaboration on a Destino, a short film which would not be completed for nearly sixty years. After eight months of work by Dali and Disney studio artist John Hench, the project was put on hold, presumably because of studio financial concerns during World War II. Hench had produced 17 seconds of footage involving two tortoises in hopes of kindling enough interest to get the project completed.

Superman - The Real Superhero

Superman is a fictional American superhero. Creators Jerry Siegel and Jos Shuster first thought of Superman in 1932, but the superhero did not appear in print until June of 1938 when he was published in "Action Comics #1". Since his debut, Superman has been featured in newspaper strips, television shows, video games, movies, and countless comic books. Superman remains a major driving force behind the popularity of superheroes in Western society, resulting in blockbusters, superhero costumes, and action figures. The trademark Superman costume consists of a blue, red, and yellow outfit, a red cape, and a capital S printed on the chest.

The Real Psycho

Psycho

"Psycho" started life in 1959 as a novel written by Robert Bloch. The book followed several normal people descent into crime. They discover a horrifying truth in the Bates Motel and that Mrs. Bates is dead and has been for sometime, and her son is murdering in her name. Reviewed: Your Highness 2011

Now let me see if I can think of some appropriate words that would aptly sum up this movie (apart from 'it's a comedy') to those who know nothing about it... lude, rude, a bit of nude and most definitely crude! And yet there is something about it that will keep you watching right until the very end.

Brought to us by the guys behind Pineapple Express, Your Highness follows two brothers Thadeous (Danny McBride) and Fabious (James Franco) with their trusty man slave Courtney on a quest to save the recently rescued princess (Zooey Deschanel) who has been re-kidnapped by the evil warlock Leezar (Justin Theroux). Yup there are quite a lot of famous faces in this aren't there but that's not always the sign of a good movie.
